“So, what do you do?”

It is a simple question that expects a simple answer. But human beings are rarely simple. I refuse the neat, tidy label that fits in a corporate box.

I am a writer. I am a mindset and performance coach. I am an endurance athlete. I am a YouTuber. I am not just one of these things; I am all of them. And they are all connected by a single, unifying thread: a relentless exploration of human potential, viewed through the lens of a philosophy I call The Bar Raiser Mindset.

If you’re short on time, listen to this 90-second overview of my journey—from the pull-up bar to the coaching room—and how this philosophy helps regulate the nervous system for peak performance.

The Laboratory of the Mind (The Athlete)

Glowing metal bar representing physical endurance and mental resilience in the mind's lab.

My journey did not begin in a boardroom or an academic lecture hall. It began on a steel bar.

I am known to many as the "Pull-Up Guy," having completed over 500,000 pull-ups—including 100,000 repetitions in just 151 days. However, I do not view the pull-up bar as a piece of gym equipment. I view it as a Laboratory of the Mind.

Physical friction is the ultimate teacher of mental truth. Through physical endurance, I learned how to sit in stillness, how to process physical discomfort, and how to command the mind when the body wants to quit. This lived experience is the foundation of my practitioner authority; I do not teach abstract theories, I share tested frameworks.

What is The Bar Raiser Mindset?

The Bar Raiser Mindset is an operating system for human potential that blends practical philosophy, somatic science, and continuous improvement. It provides a structured framework to regulate your nervous system, build uncompromising resilience, and systematically achieve your most audacious goals.

It is built upon six foundational principles:

  • Every Day is Day 1: Embrace each morning as a new opportunity to push your limits, free from the baggage of yesterday.
  • Consistent Effort: Small, daily actions, compounded over time, are the true architecture of extraordinary results.
  • Unwavering Resilience: The capacity to absorb friction, regulate your physiological response, and bounce back stronger.
  • Audacious Goals: Setting targets that genuinely scare you (your "Project X") to force cognitive and physical adaptation.
  • Continuous Improvement: The Japanese principle of Kaizen. Never settle; always refine your approach.
  • Mind-Body Connection: The inseparable link between biological wellbeing and executive function. You cannot separate the mind from the nervous system.

The Neurodivergent Edge (The Human)

I navigate the world as a late-diagnosed AuDHD (Autistic and ADHD) individual. For years, society taught me to view this as a flaw to be masked. I now understand it is simply a distinct operating system.

The Bar Raiser Mindset was forged from necessity. My daily disciplines—breathwork, Vipassana meditation, and physical exertion—are not mere "wellness trends." They are necessary tools for biological regulation. By reframing my neurodivergence, I learned to manage sensory input and harness hyper-focus. I write and coach heavily on nervous system regulation (a concept I break down in The Era of Neuro-Somatic Intelligence) because I understand exactly what it feels like to be stuck in "survival mode," and more importantly, I know how to build the physiological off-switch.

The Architecture of Performance (The Coach)

As a coach, I occupy the space between the therapist and the personal trainer. High-performers often live in an echo chamber where everyone agrees with them, but no one challenges them.

I provide the unbiased friction and the strategic architecture you are missing. Whether you are an individual pursuing a radical goal or an organisation suffering from cognitive fatigue, my ecosystem is designed to support you:

  1. Performance Coaching: For individuals chasing an audacious "Project X." We use strategic rigour to build a measurable roadmap to your target.
  2. The Clarity Partnership: A confidential "Third Space" for high-performers navigating complex thoughts.
  3. The Performance Partner: My corporate offering. Motivation isn't the problem for your high performers; cognitive load is. We work to remove the "Invisible Drag" and operationalise cognitive regulation across your team.

The Public Sandbox (The Writer & YouTuber)

Glowing crystal bursting into light, symbolizing the accessible neuro-somatic toolkit.

I believe these tools should be accessible to everyone. My digital presence is a public sandbox where I translate ancient philosophy and modern somatic science into actionable strategies.

On my YouTube channel, I host guided practices—from vagus nerve resets to Samatha meditation—using my deep, calming British male voice to help you feel safe, seen, and grounded. Through my library of articles, I explore the intersection of resilience, neuro-somatic intelligence, and practical Stoicism—including why the future of work requires a new cognitive approach in The New Intelligence Stack.

The Pull-Up Club (The Community)

What is the point of completing half a million pull-ups if you keep the knowledge to yourself?

True mastery is not measured by what you achieve in isolation, but by what you share. This philosophy is the driving force behind the Manchester Pull-Up Club.

Based in the heart of Manchester City Centre at Deansgate Square, this initiative is my way of giving back. It is an altruistic endeavour designed to create a space for people to learn technique, practice safely, challenge themselves, and be part of a supportive community. There are no egos and no judgements here. We use strict-form calisthenics to build not just physical strength, but collective resilience. It is a space to absorb friction together, encourage one another, and prove that our physiological limits are much further than we think.

If you are a resident of Deansgate Square and want to experience this supportive community, I invite you to join us on the bar.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

What exactly is neuro-somatic regulation?

It is the practice of using biological tools (like specific breathing patterns and physical movement) to signal safety to your nervous system. Rather than trying to "think" your way out of stress or anxiety, neuro-somatic regulation addresses the physiological root, pulling you out of the fight-or-flight response so your executive function can return online.

Do I need to be an athlete to use The Bar Raiser Mindset?

Absolutely not. While my personal laboratory involves endurance sports, the principles of The Bar Raiser Mindset apply to any ambitious pursuit—whether that is launching a business, writing a book, or simply mastering your daily routine and mental wellbeing.

How do I know which coaching option is right for me?

If you have a specific, ambitious physical or professional goal, Performance Coaching is your best route. If you are overwhelmed, navigating a complex life transition, or simply need an unbiased sounding board, The Clarity Partnership is the ideal fit. Both are accessible via the Coaching page.
